Belmont Recruitment are seeking an experienced Social Work Assistant to work with a Staffordshire-based Local Authority on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person with experience working within statutory social care services to support a qualified Social Worker in their role.
The role will be assisting a blind Social Worker In carrying out their daily duties. This will include assisting and supporting the Social Worker with home visits, attendance at meetings, completion of assessments and plans, direct work with children and any other tasks needed of the role.
Main Duties:
* Supporting the Social worker with day-to-day tasks such as guiding them when necessary and administrative duties.
* Undertake specialist family work including contribution and support in parenting assessments, risk assessment and single assessments as directed by the practice manager. Where appropriate also undertaking parenting support and life story work.
* Undertake Private Fostering Assessments, ensuring the welfare of children subject to this arrangement.
* To support the delivery of high quality social work activities within Children and Family Services through the provision of direct support work to children, young people and families.
* Providing support and assistance to social workers undertaking assessments, managing and implementing children’s care plans.
* Supporting colleagues in the day to day running of the service area with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes for children, young people and their families.
* Taking responsibility for a range of assessments as directed and hold cases of children subject to Supervision Orders and Special Guardianship Orders.
* To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people and to support families.
* To contribute to the team in actively planning for safety, permanency and stability for children and young people and to actively support children to live at home safely.
* To develop a positive, professional relationship with children, parents/carers and professionals.
* When required, arrange and supervise contact between children and their families, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the child whilst facilitating an environment that allows for contact to be meaningful and positive experience.
Essential Criteria:
* NVQ Level 3 in relevant social care subject or equivalent practical experience.
* Able to work flexibly to fit the times required by the Social Worker and the ability to work outside of usual working at times.
* Excellent observation skills and be confident to relay this in detail to the Social Worker in real-time, raising any safeguarding issues that can be observed that the social worker would not be able to see.
* Car driver with business cover and be prepared to transport the Social Worker and on occasion theirguide dog along with service users.
* Excellent IT and communications skills to ensure you support as a personal assistant to ensure timeliness and quality of case recordings and support the completion of all relevant documentation and reports.
