Children’s Residential Support Worker

Westmorland & Furness council are looking for someone to join their dedicated team at Huntley Avenue Short Breaks Children’s Home for a fulfilling 12-month contract. Our mission is to support children and young people to grow, learn, develop, and live positive and fulfilled lives. We offer an outstanding needs-led respite service that helps improve independent living skills, social interactions, and self-confidence, enabling children to reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people with learning disabilities.
Promote a home-from-home environment where individuality is respected and nurtured.
Communicate effectively with children, listening to their views and wishes.
Support the development of independent living skills and social interactions.
Assist in health, education, and personal development activities.
Participate in team meetings, supervisions, and appraisals to continually improve care practices.
Work collaboratively with families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure consistent care.
Facilitate fun and enjoyable experiences to help children develop peer and social interactions.
Support children in their transition to adulthood through careful planning and support.
Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.Candidate Requirements:
NVQ lvl 3 in residential childcare or equivalent experience
Enhanced DBS
Passion for working with children and young people with learning disabilities.
Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the children and the service.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.How to Apply:
