We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Homeless Housing Coordinator to join a team in Enfield on a full-time temporary ongoing basis, with an initial period of 3 months. The Housing Coordinator will be part of a team responsible for providing advice, assistance, and support to families in temporary accommodation, working to source suitable housing needs and reduce homelessness. Please note that a full enhanced DBS is required for this role.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a similar role, within housing options, homelessness prevention or social housing is essential
Experience in a role working with children and/or families is desirable
Knowledge of housing legislation, policies, and procedures, including the Homelessness Reduction Act, the Children Act, the Care Act, and the Welfare Reform Act
Experience of carrying out robust enquiries and competently deciding homelessness applications in accordance with Part VII Housing Act 1996 as amended
Ability to effectively manage a caseload whilst ensuring effective planning, prioritisation, case recording and communication with customers
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner
Good organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlines

Provide a quality service of housing options, advice and homeless prevention casework to fulfil the authority’s statutory function to prevent homelessness in accordance with Housing Act 1996
Accurately and robustly process housing and homelessness approaches within agreed timescales, adhering to relevant policies, procedures, legislation case law and guidance
Assess Housing Needs: Conduct thorough assessments of individuals and families to determine their housing needs and eligibility for different housing option
Arrange and undertake home visits where appropriate to confirm homelessness, to inspect housing standards / conditions or to verify a household’s circumstances
Interpret and explain clearly complex legal matters to tenants, landlords and other relevant parties
Have a positive attitude and ability to overcome challenges, as well as accept responsibility for service delivery
Liaise with external partners, including Gateway Services, Assessment Services, and Revenues and Benefits
Liaise with the Council’s Medical Assessment Officers to ensure comprehensive and robust medical assessments are carried out for homeless households and housing Register applications
Liaise with the Market Management Team to secure accommodation where a housing duty is owed
Maintain Records: Accurately record all interactions, assessments, and decisions in line with relevant policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data protection guidelines are strictly followed
