Children’s Home Deputy Manager
£32,000 – £34,000 per annum

MAIN TERMS: 40-hour week, 9-5 on average. 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
To Work with the Manager to manage the daily running of the children’s home(s) in line with company policy and regulatory requirements. Supervising and providing guidance, support, direction and leadership to staff and to take the Managerial responsibility on the Managers absence.
To Model best practise approaches during challenging behaviours, ensuring there is coherent and consistent high levels of care.
Work directly with and as part of the senior management team for the best interest of the young people, staff, and company.
KEY TASKS
To ensure the policies, procedures and frameworks that underpin the home are up to date and affectively implemented daily representing best practise and reflective of the company’s inclusion and culture.
Establish and use methods to evaluate the quality of care provided by staff within the home and to make improvements where necessary and encourage continuous improvement.
Model the best practise approaches to working with and supporting children with challenging behaviours.
Ensure a regular use of effective handovers and debriefs for staff.
Participate in the placement of children and their transition process in and out of the home.
Regularly review the staffing structure and support HR with recruitment, induction, and training.
Support the Manager to regularly review the budget needs within the home
Ensure daily practise within the homes reflects the equality and diversity goals of the company and needs of the staff and young people
Work effectively with all professionals and multi agencies that are required for the best care of the young people.
Conduct supervisions and welfare meetings and attend disciplinary meetings with the Manager/HR as and when required as per company policy.
Provide consistent leadership, ensuring staff feel respected, listened to, and supported.
Work with the Manager to implement performance plans where particular staff require the extra support. Assess skill gaps and work with HR to implement training and mentoring where needed.
Support the Manager to conduct probationary reviews and appraisals.
Directly Manage the team leaders and ensure they are equipped with the skillset required to be line managers to the support workers within the team.
Take part in scheduling shifts and working on the rota to ensure that the home is staffed appropriately and adequately. Ensuring on call and managerial presence at all appropriate times.
Ensure staff, visitors and young people are safeguarded daily and health and safety protocols are followed according to the health and safety at work act 1974
Work with your staff team to ensure positive outcomes, reducing incidents and providing a safe environment for young people, visitors, and staff.
Report and whistle blow any work situation that is deemed by the management of health and safety act 1999, to cause imminent danger and shortcomings of the employer’s protection arrangements.
To monitor and maintain standards against agreed criteria and objectives and to implement quality assurance systems, which reflect agreed good practice.(This job description may be reviewed and amended regularly as per the needs of the business)
QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant Management qualification such as level 5 Diploma in leadership and management or equivalent
Willing to work towards the next appropriate level of qualification (Level 5) and any further courses and training seen relevant by the company
Up to date safeguarding training.
