Blackburn with Darwen Children Social Care require a full time Practice Manager in the Childrens Advice and Duty Service (formerly known as MASH). The role is 5 days per week Monday to Friday. The emphasis of the post will be about using experience to ensure that the initial response to partners, members of the public and others is consistent, appropriate and proportionate to the reason for contacting the local authority.
The worker must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of evidence based approaches and the ability to offer sound professional advice in a smart and meaningful way which at times will involve challenge. In addition you will provide management support as required.
Key responsibilities are as follows but not limited to:
1. You will be part of a team who are trained specifically to respond to all new enquiries made at the front door, thus being able to make consistent and sound decisions promptly.
2. To support all team members within the Advice and Duty Service to perform well and meet performance demands – decisions within 24 hours.
3. To lead in the development of a high standard of practice and decision making within the Advice and Duty Service.
4. To work collaboratively with the receiving referral and assessment teams as regards new work requiring assessments.
* The Practice Manager will ensure high quality effective social work practice by leading on the response at the front door and modelling excellent social work practice within the Children’s Advice and Duty Service.
* Working with Social Workers, other professionals, partner agencies and families, often in difficult situations and under significant pressure, the Practice Manager will work alongside the Team Manager to support team members to operate to their required level and use their own expertise and decision making skills.
* The Practice Manager will effectively provide support to the Team Manager for the day-to-day management and leadership of the team as required, in accordance with statutory guidance and policy. During periods of Team Manager absence, the Practice Manager would be responsible for the management functions of the team.
* The Practice Manager will work collaboratively with the Team Manager to provide effective leadership of the service, ensuring that an outcome focused approach for children and young people is used and maintained.
* The Practice Manager will demonstrate a high level of expertise to develop effective working partnerships with agencies with whom we need to work collaboratively with to achieve good outcomes for children and young people.
Candidates need to be qualified, registered social workers with experience of safeguarding and court work and at least 3 years post qualifying experience. They will have supervisory experience preferable, good communication skills and team work, be flexible and have good IT skill
