We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Assessment Officer to join a Housing Benefit / Financial Assessment team, based in Enfield. This role involves reviewing Housing Benefit for supported (exempt) accommodation tenants and providers, and to review, scrutinise, and assess existing caseloads and new claims.
The Role
Challenge and assess the elements that make up the eligible rent.
Check and challenge provider and tenant eligibility.
Work closely with the Fraud Investigator, Housing Reviewing Officers, and Inspector.
Answer members’ enquiries and complaints.
Handle reconsiderations and appeals.
Ensure the Council fulfils its legal and contractual obligations to tenants and leaseholders.
Provide reports on management transfers or case work and actions.The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, specifically assessing Housing Benefit claims for exempt accommodation. Additional required experience includes:
Successful track record of continuous performance improvement in a financial assessment service.
Experience of assessing Housing Benefit claims, including exempt accommodation
Well-developed written and oral communication skills to effectively convey complex matters.
Good understanding of eligible rent, service charges, and company accounts.
Ability to balance competing pressures to maximize organizational outcomes.
