Private Rented Sector Officer

The Private Rented Sector Team within a local authority in Manchester, Homelessness Services focuses on finding suitable move-on accommodation for households to prevent and relieve homelessness. The role involves working with vulnerable clients who may present with complex issues, including drug, alcohol, mental health, and physical health problems. The team collaborates closely with other services to ensure the best outcomes for clients, emphasizing private rented accommodation, social housing, supported accommodation, or temporary accommodation.
Private Rented Sector Officer Key Responsibilities:
Provide intensive support for customers with complex needs, offering holistic support plans to achieve long-term solutions and aspirations
Assist customers in identifying realistic goals, ensuring full commitment and agreement from all parties to achieve identified targets
Adopt a flexible, person-centred approach to develop confidence, resilience, and independence among service users
Maintain accurate records and collect data to evidence performance and ensure achievement of targets
Secure suitable, affordable properties, with an emphasis on the private rented sector, for homeless people and other customers, including temporary accommodation.
Establish and maintain rapport with customers, challenging patterns of behavior that may undermine positive outcomes.
Private Rented Sector Officer Essential Skills:
Clear, concise, and accurate communication promoting understanding.
Ability to effectively organize multiple tasks and allocate time according to priority.
Innovative problem-solving and developing new approaches.
Ability to analyze situations, diagnose problems, identify key issues, and produce logical solutions. Ownership of decisions with sound judgment in escalating issues.
Good literacy and numeracy skills for documentation.
Proficiency in using ICT systems to obtain, analyze, and present data.
Qualifications and Experience:
Previous experience in a housing support role.
Enhanced DBS certification for working with adults.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
The Package
This is a temporary, Private Rented Sector Officer role,40 hours per week for an initial 3 months, covering the recruitment process for a permanent team member, meaning the role could be extended, or become permanent.
